NetInventory Documentation

Features

NetInventory consists of a set of tools designed to help system administrators in administering a Active Directory setup. See NetInventory Installation for information on how to set up and using NetInventory in your organization.

Collector Features

NetInventory is a PC inventory program that gathers more than 180 different types of information about hardware and software. This includes information such as CPU, memory, hard drives, and serial numbers; details about the operating system, installed software, and software components; configuration information such as IP address, running processes, and services; security-related information such as shared resources, modems, account policies, and security patches. The information is stored in a relational database like an Access file or on SQL Server.

Note: Collector will collect absolutely no personal user information.

Reporter Features

Reporter is used as the default data display application. By default, it contains some common queries against the database to answer some common questions Administrators will have when having to take care of a network.

UserAudit Features

UserAudit will show password age and Domain Account information, such as the date and time the users last logged on to the system. It has been designed to easily find obsolete accounts and keep Account security tight. The information can be stored in XML files.

Note: UserAudit collects security relevant information rather than sensible user data.
