NetInventory Documentation

Install - Basic Configuration

Considerations

After a standard installation, you can run NetInventory without any configuration. It gather a standard set of information and record that information into a database. However, it is highly recoommended that you customize NetInventory before usage to get the most out of the program. More information can be found in the Collector Configuration section.

NetInventory contains a default configuration that will typically be modified by an administrator to suit your needs. The options menu will not be available for ordinary users. The menu becomes active if NetInventory is started by a Domain Administrator or with the "/adm" command-line option by any user. If the restrictive security option is enabled, the configuration menu will be available to Domain Administrators only.

Note: The program may not be able to determine correctly. This is why, by default, restrictive security mode is disabled. If the detection works flawlessly, you should immediately enable this option!

The setup screen from the Admin menu allows you to configure database settings, error recording features, and optional features of NetInventory.
