For the most part, the average user will never see the Collector
program run. It is designed by default to be stealthy and to be run during
a login batch with no user interface at all.
However, it can also be started with a graphical interface, so users can
scan their machines and save, print, or record a report.
Administrators can do more than this: they can use the graphical user interface
of Collector to poll remote PCs for their data and store the information
in a database, or modify the program settings which are valid for all users.
See NetInventory Installation for additional information on how to install and deploy NetInventory in your organization.
For information about the graphical user mode of Collector, refer to Collector GUI. Detailed descriptions of all the available configuration options can be found in the Collector Settings section.
The results of an Collector scan will be saved to either a database or a XML file.
